Classical Traditional Midwife

I’m a classically-trained traditional midwife living in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in practice and have practiced mainly in Massachusetts over the last two decades. My journey began with a divine calling. For over two decades, I have served families through the sacred art of midwifery. I guide them through the rhythms of birth with reverence and trust in the body’s wisdom.

I trained predominantly with Nancy Wainer, who coined the term “VBAC” in the 1980s. She grounded me in the belief that all uteruses deserve opportunity. I have worked in the U.S. and in clinics near my other home in West Africa. Breech and twin births were frequent there. I attended the Hands of Light and Heaven and Earth Home Midwifery Schools where I trained with highly experienced “granny” midwives.

My Philosophy

My work is rooted in the belief that the birthing parent is the true decision-maker. I walk alongside each family, offering support, evidence-based knowledge, and wisdom. Always honoring your autonomy.

I have two stellar doula assistants who accompany me to most births to love on you if you desire that, and keep me rested for you. You will receive the space and intimacy you need to unfold.

I deeply trust the innate wisdom of the body and its power to bring life into the world. The families I support also trust in the spiritual and physical power of birth and the divine wisdom that guides us as we journey through the path of unknowns together.

My Style

In my practice, I am as hands-off as possible, honoring the sanctity of the birth process. I am not one to intervene unless necessary, and I firmly oppose any regulation over a woman’s body or birth choices. Birth is not for the state, the institution, or anyone but the family. It is sacred. It is theirs.

I am an unschooling mother of 7, who has both given birth at home, by cesarean section, and as well as a VBA2C freebirther. Beyond my work as a midwife, I am also a licensed financial advisor, My holistic approach to supporting families in all aspects of their lives, guides them with wisdom that spans both birth and financial well-being. Intimate, lifelong relationships bring me great joy.

I walk this path with faith, love, and reverence. Each birth is a divine unfolding of a soul’s journey—an offering, a blessing, a moment of grace. That soul joins us for a lifetime, be it a moment or a century.
